Sonia Kashuk - Velvety Matte Lip Crayons $7.59
There are 9 shades total. I picked up 6 of the 9. Each shade's name has "nude" in the title. I would maybe qualify 4-5 of these shades as nudes. Other than that, I don't understand the naming scheme.
I first want to address the packaging. At my Target I found black and white tubes mixed together. I don't know which is older/newer. Be advised, the black tubes have an issue with air trapping under the cap. If you don't give the cap a good twist after re-capping, you'll find that the cap may pop off. Yikes! This hasn't happened to me but I'm sure it's just a disaster waiting to happen. The white tubes don't seem to have this issue. So grab the white tubes if you can!
These lip crayons are more like jumbo lip pencils. You do have to manually sharpen these. Boo, I know. How spoiled have we've gotten from the twist up lip crayons?! For 7.59 I kinda wish they had a built in a twist method but, it is what it is. That being said, lets talk about how the product preforms.
I find they are comfortable on the lips but they do tend to get a bit drying as time goes on. I find that I have to layer a balm underneath then I'm good to go. In order to wear this product, no matter the color, your lips needs to be smoooooth. No cracks or chapping. This product will show all the nasty bits on your lips. That's probably the biggest down fall of these but thus the nature of most matte lip products. With it being the winter season here in Ohio, trying to work with a product like this may be daunting... For me I haven't had too much of an issue. I really try to keep my lips hydrated and I drinks TONS of water. If you do the proper lip maintenance you will be rewarded with a fabulous lip product that lasts most of the day.
Colors I picked up:
- Coraly Nude 01
- Bossomy Nude 04
- Nudey Nude 05
- Berry Nude 06
- Mulberry Nude 08
- Pinky Nude 09
The next thing I picked up is a little random but some a great find. I don't really have anything like this in my makeup army, so why not? This contour stick is very easy to work with. The color blends easily. With it being in a stick form you can really take control on where you want the contour to appear. I feel for my skin tone it's a great contour.
