Halloween Oero Cookie Pops!

Heeeeeeey, long time no blog. Today it's crafting adventures with Devon! I felt like being crafty this week so I made Oreo Cookie Pops!

 All you will need is:
  • 1 package of Oreos
  • Candy Melts of any kind or chocolate (you can use food coloring to dye white chocolate)
  • Cream Cheese or frosting
  • Sprinkles for decoration!
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Wax/parchment paper on a baking sheet
  • Piece of foam or something to hold up the pops
These items below aren't necessary unless you many be bringing these to a carry in or party and wanted some type of covering:
  • Ziplock bags
  • Ribbon to tie or twist ties
*I found all these items are Jo-Anns; everything thing else can be found at a local grocery store.

Let's get started! Take the WHOLE package of Oreos, cookie and all. Smash it up anyway you can. I used a food processor which worked great. You can smash these in a bag with a rolling pin but make sure you are getting a very fine cookie dust.

Next take the smashed cookies and mix in one package of cream cheese. You can also substitute the cream cheese for a of container frosting. You'll end up with a dough like product.

Make sure you prep your work space with wax/parchment paper on a baking sheet. Also, make sure you have room in your fridge (I forgot to check that lol). Use your hands and roll out 20-24 balls. I made mine a bit larger, which gave 20 balls. Stick the Oreo balls into the fridge to chill for about 1 hour.

Unfourtanly I didn't get any photos after this part. :( I will explain the best I can but you can google or YouTube "How to make Cake Pops" and there are great demostartions for this part. I've learned from trail and error. You just have to get in there and give it a go!!

Melt your chocolates in the microwave at low power. Stir the chocolate every 30 seconds. If you find the chocolate is too thick, add vegetable stocking to thin it out; a small amount goes a long way. After the chocolate has melted, take the Oreo balls out of the fridge. Take your pop sticks and dip them 1/2in into the melted chocolate. Insert the stick about 3/4ths of the way into the Oreo ball. What we are doing is creating a seal around the stick. This will help later when we start dipping. After all the sticks have been placed in, place Oreo balls back into the fridge for 5 minutes to set the seal.

Here comes the fun part! Dipping and decorating. :) When dipping your Oreo balls into the chocolate avoid swirling/twisting. You'll find that you'll end up twisting your stick right off. Instead, place the pop into the chocolate and kinda like a joystick, move the pop forward, back, left, and right to cover the entire surface. Carefully pull the pop out and hopefully, SUCCESS?! Place the pop onto your foam, decorate, and then let dry for 15-20min.

This is the stage where I learned alot. That's probably why I really don't have any pictures. Just be patient. Remember, if the chocolate is too thick, add the stocking. If it gets too runny you may need more chocolate. Becareful not to burn your chocolate, I made that mistake. :( Also, the techquine in which you dip your pops makes a difference!

Have fun and good luck! :) :) :)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN

PS: Oh! If you want to travel/take the pops somewhere I suggest a covering on the pops. I got some really cheap ziplock bags from the dollar store. Cut of the zip lock part of the bag. With a twist tie or a piece of ribbon, insert the pop into the bag, and close. :)

OPI Mod About You

Follow me on instagram @devonstinson
OPI's Mod About You (I love OPI polish names!), is a creamy pale purple, borderline pink. I'm not a huge pink fan but I really enjoy this color. Application was average and coverage was nice. Photos below show 2 coats.

Essie Bazooka

Follow on on Instagram @devonstinson

Essie's Bazzoka was not at all what I expected it to be. It was a very sheer gel like fromual. It wasn't actually what I was hoping for in this polish. It was very hard to capture the true color of this polish on camera. It's not really thing red/orange. The photos below show 3 coats of polish.

See how sheer this polish is??  I really don't like it. :(
All in all, the color and formula just wasn't what I was expecting. This was my first let down in the Essie polish line.
